Appearance and Personality
Jadamare is a black-haired green-eyed human with krytan features. She usually has her hair in a ponytail and wear various outfits dependent on the circumstances. In most cases, she wear tern or dark colors, but she doesn’t hesitate to wear more eyecatching colors when stealth is not necessary.
Highly pragmatic and proactive, Jadamare is always on the frontline, if not behind enemy lines. She will use any and all methods available for the defense of Tyria, be it sabotage, manipulation or assassination. Without her sister to serve as a moral reminder, she would probably have fallen into crime before adulthood.

Shadow Magic
Jadamare discovered very early an keen interest in manipulation de the shadows, and took every opportunities to learn more about shadow magic; she started with her less-than-stellar teachers in Divinity’s Reach, expanded her skills and knowledge within the Order of Whispers and beyond, up to recently learning new applications from Canthan monks.
- Hiding in Shadows is the most basic form of shadow magic. The user wraps itself in shadow magic, making themselves hard to perceive and greatly enhancing their stealth. A trained master can use advanced versions of this skill, such as Shadow refuge which lets them hide their allies with them; or Shadow meld with which they fuse with the shadows themselves, making them capable to disappear in front of even the most perceptive foes. Despite being very basic, it’s one of the most used skill by Jadamare, which lets her infiltrate most locations unimpeded.
- Shadowstep is another common form of shadow magic. By jumping inside their own shadow, the user can very quickly move short distance before suddenly reappearing. This technique is often an integral part of the combat style of shadow users, allowing them to quickly reposition themselves, appearing for a sudden strike or evade a sure hit. A master and also enhance this technique in order to create a Shadow portal, a temporary portal that shadowstep the user and their allies over long distances. Unlike most of shadow users, Jadamare mostly use shadowstep as a way to move around discretly, and rarely in combat, where she usually focuses on martial arts or more involved forms of shadow magic.
- Shadow bolts are attacks made directly through shadow magic. Their nature often vary, with some attacking the opponent’s shadow, while other become physical to maim or bind their target. This skill is uncommon in Kryta, but a frequently used in the southern Crystal Desert and Cantha. Shadow bolts with special effects are generaly named based on their effects; this is the case for example of Shadow flare which is a explosion of shadow energy, and Shadow bind with use shadows to immobilise their target. Jadamare uses shadow bolts infrequently, but will make use of them when using shadow shroud and wells.
- Shadow healing is a canthan skill that lets the user manipulate a persons’ shadow in order to restore their bodies and protect them from harm. The early versions of this skill tended to inflict pain to the target as they were healing them, but a century of study removed that issue. Upon learning of this skill, Jadamare jumped on the occasion to expand her repertoire with the possibility to heal and protect her allies. After learning to do it, she uses this ability often when she isn’t on her own.
- Shadow wells are another form of attack using shadow magic, but unlike shadow bolts, they are not send toward a target. The user instead infuse the ground were they stand with shadow magic and can thus manipulate the shadows of every creature that stand within the area. Canthan specters are the specialists in using those attacks with each type of effect having its own name such as well of gloom or well of silence. Shadow well are however not absent in the krytan thief toolkit, but often considered to be advanced version of other skills, such as shadow refuge and shadow portal. Jadamare regularly makes use of wells whenever her martial arts and sharpshooting abilities are not enough.
- Shadow shroud is a technique in which the user immerses themselves in shadow energy. In this state, they become more in tune with shadows and become capable to use raw shadow energy as way to attack. While powerful, this technique is exhausting can only be used for a short duration before the user must suspend it to gather more energy. Jadamare recently learned this skill, but is already making regular use of it.
Stealth and Assassination
In addition to shadow magic, Jadamare’s teachers in Divinity’s Reach also taught her various skills from the criminal underworld, such as stealth, pick-pocketing and assassination. While Jadamare has left the criminal underworld behind long ago, she still find ample use of those skills during her heroics.
- Stealth and Pick-pocketing. Jadamare has been trained in suddenly vanishing by sticking to shadows, making use smoke bombs and blinding powder, or with a touch of shadow magic. She can also sweep various items from unsuspecting targets.
- Trapmaking. Jadamare is trained in making, laying and using traps of various kind, as well as basic knownledge in sealing techniques.
- Disrupting tools. Jadamare wield various tools with the only goal of slowing, disruption and generally make itself a nuisance to the enemy. Blinding powder, bolas, caltrops, throwing daggers, scorpion wire; all of them have a unique use, and knowing when to use them is crucial.

Biography
Early Life, Shaemoor, and Divinity’s Reach
Jadamare is originaly born at Nebo Terrace, but a serie of centaur attacks forced her family to seek refuge in Divinity’s Reach. While there, she took an interest in Shadow Magic and learnt whatever she could about it from anyone she could find. This led her into meeting various unsavory people, and learning other skills such as stealth, thievery, and poisoning.
While interested in those subjects, Jadamare did not want to end up on the other side of the law while her sister Deborah had recently joined the Seraph. Thus, she kept her interests as hobbies, and trained under Andrew, an Innkeeper of Divinity’s Reach Salma District, aiming to become a cook in his inn.
In late 1325 AE, Deborah was ambushed by centaurs while on patrol, and only a few days later the village of Shaemoor was attacked while Jadamare was visiting. She helped defend the inhabitants against the centaurs, and became a local celebrity as the Hero of Shaemoor.
Spoiler alert: The following text contains spoilers relating the Guild Wars 2 core storyline (Personal story, Chapters 1 & 2)
[show]While she was only just recovering from the attack, she came into conflict with the gang of a bandit named Big Nose Ted. With the help of Logan Thackeray, Commander of the Seraphs, she revealed a conspiracy between Ted and the Ministry Guard. She afterward led the efforts into uncovering the truth behind the ambush on her sister’s company, and linked both situations to Minister Caudecus; sadly, the lack of proof made any prosecution impossible. But, having saved her sister, Jadamare was happy and ready to go back to her job as cook for Andrew’s Inn.
This would not happen, however, as Jadamare’s actions caught the interest of not only the queen, but also the Orders of Tyria; and she was asked to elucidate an issue involving the presence of Risen minions far to close to home. After saving Queen Jennah from an assassination attempt by the risen Seraph Kellach, she joined the Order of Whispers as a new Initiate
Joining the Order of Whispers
After traveling to Lion’s Arch and meeting the members of a crumbling Destiny’s Edge, Jadamare got acquainted with Tybalt Leftpaw, a agent of the Order of Whisper, and her new mentor.
